2020-10-30 - No Halloween fiest this year, so here is a real story from last year -

The other night, the Halloween one, I was sitting around my Pub table facing the street, and I saw the little kid getting out of his house just in front of mine dressed like a box, followed by his mother. They wondered around a little, then, I started to get worried. What if they knock at my door?

I have a good relation with that kid, maybe two or three years old. I talk to the nanny once in a while, he talks to me, the nanny translates (for some reason she understands him, I don’t). Although, apparently he speaks English. Nice little kid very lively (and talkative).

Well, they came straight to my door!
I jumped out of my chair, knowing perfectly I had nothing to offer as a treat! Actually, the thought that the only thing I could offer right now was an unopened bottle of wine (luckily, the thought disappeared quickly).

When I opened the door he was standing still, shy, silent. Playing a little with the white small truck that kept his little hands occupied.

- Nice dress!

The mother said: He is dressed as a truck.

- Good to know! Nice truck.

Then I apologized for not having a treat for him... Not sure he understood but he started to talk happily and very fast about some concerns he must have had (other than some missing candies).

As his mother pulled him away, because they had other places to visit, I promised I would make it up to him soon.

Yesterday, going back home, I stopped where I buy chocolates sometimes and I was happy to find a huge colorful candy filled, as I was told, by plenty of baby candies. It could not have being more perfect.

I knocked at the door, hiding the huge candy behind my back. The mother was there holding a little brother in her harms, the nanny was there dressed to go, and as I saw the little boy, I only addressed him.
- Here you are! I have to talk to you!
He approached.

Do you remember the other night when I did not have a gift for you and I felt very sorry?

- I think he said yes.

Well, I said I will bring you something, so close your eyes, and put your hands in front of you.

I realized that the coordination was not perfect, he could not do both at the same time, and the mother showed him were the front of his little body was since he puts his hands in the back.
When it was almost perfect, I pulled the candy and put it in his hands.
- Here it is!

I turned back right away and left bumping into the father arriving from work.

I heard some thank you, and him happily yelling something like “thank you S., thank you S., thank you S.”.
